The Man in Black – damit ist natürlich der legendäre Country-Sänger Johnny Cash gemeint, einer der einfluss-
reichsten US-amerikanischen Country-Sänger und Songschreiber. Sein musikalisches Spektrum reichte von den 1950er Jahren mit Country, Gospel, Rockabilly, Blues, Folk und Pop bis hin zum Alternative Country Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts. Johnny Cash hat etwa 500 Songs geschrieben, mehr als 50 Millionen Tonträger verkauft und wurde mit 13 Grammy Awards ausgezeichnet – das ist wahrlich Grund genug, ihm Tribut zu zollen. Dies tut die Coverband „Man in Black – Tribute to Johnny Cash and his friends“ aus Baden-Württemberg, die sich auf die Fahne geschrieben hat, den Geist von Johnny Cash weiterleben zu lassen. Anfang 2014 haben sich die fünf Musiker aus verschiedenen Bands in Nordbaden zusammengefunden; im Repertoire finden sich die besten Cash-Titel aus allen Epochen – Hits wie „I walk the line“, „Ring of fire“, „Folsom Prison Blues“ oder „Hurt“ sind fester Bestandteil des Programms.
